Harriet Boon

October 2 and 3, 2010: Harriet Boon will be with us from Canada for some silk spinning.

This is a 2-day (Sat. and Sun.) workshop for spinners and weavers which will include a brief history of sericulture(domesticated silk worm farming), reeling of cocoons in the Thai manner and with available equipment, simplified mawata making and degumming cocoons for spinners and weavers. Also covered: How to select the silk preparations for the desired fabric, spinning moil and blending effects and the use of mawata for spinners and weavers.

October 4, 2010 (Monday): Harriet Boon will spend the day with participants blending silk for silk socks.


November 2010

November 13, 2010 (Saturday): This workshop has been canceled.

James Koehler

February 26, 27, 28, 2011 ( Sat., Sun., Mon.): James Koehler, a tapestry weaver from New Mexico will teach a workshop entitled, “Hachure, Hatching and Color Gradation for Tapestry”.
